I didn’t know I was supposed to sleep with my tarot cards until two days after, will I still bond with them? Will I still get dreams ( like dreams you get when you put the tarot cards under your pillow)? And how long are you supposed to sleep with them?

Learning the Different Spreads in Tarot Layouts

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Craig Malone asked:

wing the meaning of the symbols on tarot cards is an important part of tarot card divination, then knowing the different spreads in tarot card reading comes a close second in importance.

The first important aspect to know about is what a spread is. The spread in tarot card reading is the layout in which cards are placed by the tarot card reader after the cards are shuffled and cut. There are basic layouts are often used by tarot card readers have thousands of variations which help to give specific answers to the querent’s question. One of the cards or an extra card is used when the spread is laid out and called the significator. The importance of the significator card is that it signifies and represents the querent and the person the querent is on the date of the query.

There are a few basic card spreads from which variations of different spreads in tarot are made which are used to answer specific questions. The Celtic cross is the most commonly used card spread. It consists of ten cards 6 laid in the shape of a cross and 4 vertically beside the cross and the central card is the significator. The cards at the crossing show the obstacles in the answer to the question posed. The horseshoe card spread has cards laid in a v shape. The cards from left to right signify the past and present obstacles to the question of the querent. The 3 card tarot spread is a simple spread where three cards signifying the past present and future are laid out. The astrological spread is laid out in a twelve card circle representing the signs of the zodiac and a thirteenth card is placed at the center to represent the significator. Sometimes one card is dealt and this single card constitutes a spread in tarot reading. The Tetractys spread is one where ten cards are arranged in a four row pyramid each row represents the earth, air, fire and water. Each card has a meaning and the top card is the significator.

The importance of the tarot spread is that each spread assigns a specific meaning to the cards. General questions can be answered by using basic tarot card spreads. If an in depth analysis is required, knowing the meanings of different spreads in tarot will help the tarot professional focus efforts on a single problem or a particular area of interest in answer to the question of the querent.

There are guidelines given on what you must consider before choosing a tarot spread among the different spreads in tarot. You must first decide a spread based on what the question is. The tarot spread should be laid out based on whether the querent wants a general or specific question answered. You must also consider how much detail the querent wants you to give before picking a tarot spread. If you don’t have much experience, it is wise to choose the spread you are familiar with.

You may know all you need to know about the symbols on tarot cards. If you don’t know the significance of the different spreads in tarot or layout of the tarot, you cannot accurately practice divination through tarot cards.

Is it true that tarot cards can usually only predict events within 6-12 months at the most?

Sunday, February 21st, 2010
Beth E asked:

I have had several readings with psychics who use tarot cards to confirm what they see and it would be a comfort to know that the events they saw are going to happen in the next year and not 2 years from now.

The last reader I went to predicted a new job offer and relationship said that if these things weren’t going to happen within the next 12 months it would have been difficult for her to see them in any great detail or see them at all.

A Prelude to Scrutinise Tarot Cards

Sunday, February 14th, 2010
Angelys Groshong asked:

The past of the Tarot is something that is concealed by time. There are some remarks and scholars that equate the inception of the Tarot with that of age-old Egypt, while more investigators and scholars hint that the Tarot shares descent with age-old gypsy cultures. Still, there are alternative investigators that allocate an Italian introduction to the Tarot cards, and it is accredited that the Tarot Cards became a tool of divination right around the 1400s. Since that time, 100’s of disparate decks show evolved and are today in use. One of the most well-known decks being the Rider-Waite deck.

Tarot cards are separated into five divisions: The Major Arcana, The Suit of Wands, The Suit of Coins, The Suit of Cups, and the Suit of Swords. Each card in The Major Arcana has an equivalent face card for every following suit.

The suits themselves present divisions as well. Their interpretations and worth are determined by their statuses as Oudlers/Trulls, Kings, Queens, Cavaliers, Jacks, and Others. Oudlers generally demonstrate the same point and value as Kings, while the rest from Queens to Jacks are worth one point less than their predecessors.

More than the value of cards, the English-speaking world gives significantly more value to the interpretations of the cards.

Every card has a disparate meaning, depending upon what the card’s suit is, and if it is integral of the Minor or Major Arcana. Every one of of the Tarot cards are numbered, so each card serves a reader with a specific numerological value which can be interpreted throughout divination practices. Furthermore, the meanings of the cards evolve depending upon where the cards appear in a deciphering, as well as what genre of card layout is used. The cards are read both singularly and together to get a complete deciphering. The largest favored layouts are the three card spread and the Celtic Cross.

Face-to-face tarot card readings are the better standard types of readings because they allow the human being to select the cards themselves. The reader then interprets what cards are chosen. This has more market appeal due to its interactive nature. In different parts of the world, there are a lot of street readers who do readings for passers-by. There are also populace who go to homes in order to read tarot card meanings for other members of public. England rates for home readings are at £12.50 per person or around that area.

Tarot card purists believe that these face-to-face readings are the original type of readings. This leads them to believe that face-to-face readings are a lot truer than alternative types of tarot card readings like e-mail or telephone readings. Then again, these arguments are astrological in nature and cannot be found to be true or accurate.

You may also demonstrate a tarot deciphering done over the phone. If you cannot pinpoint a local being who does tarot readings or would prefer additional discretion, this could be a acceptable choice. While you should expect a tarot reading over the phone to be rather expensive, do avoid questionable services charging by the minute. There are reputable tarot card readers who provide readings over the phone for a reasonable flat fee. Some might also offer online readings for a little sum, and provide their interpretation of the cards via email.

Although tarot is named something that is as accurate as astrology, there is still a growing tarot service market that is ever increasing through new mediums. After all, purists still think that a face to face tarot deciphering is important. It is also important to note that tarot cards are not purely divinatory devices. They are also used in scarcely any countries as cards used for playing. This alone should encourage tarot card users to keep a level head.
